Eclectic & quirky are two ways to describe Jeani, which is one of the reasons she always dreamed of living in NYC… she knew she would fit in.

Starting out as a make up artist in 1988 she freelanced for several cosmetic companies, also doing work in print media and runway shows. She decided to branch into the fashion industry in 1994, primarily working in the corporate retail division for the Express stores as a Regional Asst. Manager – overseeing the Northeast market.

Over 20 years of experience in the fashion and beauty industry has given Jeani the tools necessary to explore her passion for starting her own companies.

Jeani has been allergic to the sun for the past 20+ years, so she stays out of the sun and lathers her skin with SPF 30 daily. So once she found out about her sun allergy, she knew being sun safe would enhance her lifestyle. Always searching for the perfect sunless tanner she would purchase product after product… finally after 15 years it happened… she discovered the best sunless tan ever.

Faux Glow , Inc. was established by Jeani in 2003. Faux Glow is for those of us who love to have a healthy glow that the sun provides – but doesn't’t want to suffer any skin damage.

Jeani is also the owner of Spacadet.com - a beauty website that sells funky, fresh & fabulous products. Since she is a beauty product junkie - this was the perfect business idea to allow her to provide people with great beauty products and merge the two companies together.

Jeani & Faux Glow have caught the attention of the media. In Style, Daily News, Allure, Self, Life & Style Weekly, Fitness, Health, In Style Makeover & New York Magazine. Not only has the media published numerous tips, quotes, and professional advice from Jeani, but many celebrities enjoy Jeani's talent's as well. Ivana, Lindsay, Paris, Nicole, Britney and others whose anonymity will be honored have frequented Faux Glow.

Citysearch has voted Faux Glow as the "Best of Citysearch Sunless Tanning Audience Winner 2008" in New York City.

She has also done numerous shows, Good Morning America, The Today Show, The Mike and Juliet Show, Inside Edition, Ambush Makeover, MTV, VH1 & NY360 - these shows have shown Jeani's true hidden talents on camera!

René Cutler:
(Senior Glow Color Specialist/Senior Eyelash Specialist/Senior Make Up Artist)

Faux Glow’s resident lash expert, is a certified specialist in eyelash extensions through Xtreme Lashes, the industry leader in the field. Her training allows her to offer clients a customized appearance for their lashes to achieve their desired look. Skilled in the intricacies of this new aesthetic process, René is an expert at the maintenance of eyelash extensions as well and offers her clients expertise throughout the entire extension application.

In addition to her eyelash expertise, she is also a certified and highly trained make-up artist. A graduate of the Margaret Kimura Academy’s Masters Program in Los Angeles, René’s work has been featured in print, film and television including commercials, feature films, music videos and print and online magazines. She has also appeared as an on-camera make-up artist for the series “Runway Moms” on the Discovery Health Channel.

René’s area of focus is “natural beauty” and she believes that the enhancement of her client’s assets is the best way to achieve a beautiful look. Because of her “eye for color” she is able to create custom color palettes that beautifully complement every skin tone.

René’s beauty philosophy is that “the best canvas for beautiful make-up starts with healthy, beautiful skin.” As such, she was immediately taken with Faux Glow’s UV free way of offering beautiful, sun kissed color while avoiding the signs of aging that come with the sun’s harmful rays.

René’s easy going and friendly personality makes her a winning member of any team and enhances her relationships with her clients. LIZ SERNA:
(Senior Glow Color Specialist/Senior Make Up Artist)

As a Colombian Latina born and raised in Astoria, Queens NY, make up has been apart of my up bringing since I was 15 years old. I majored in Fashion Design, but discovered my talent as a makeup artist, always dressing and applying make up to my willing and not so willing friends! As my talented hand spread like wild fire through my community, one thing lead to another and I started to freelance working fashion shows, photo-shoots, proms, and weddings. This experience helped establish employment opportunities with top cosmetic companies like CLINIQUE and M.A.C., GUERLAIN, and now for BARE ESCENTUALS as a mineral color specialist. This also led me to be a Senior Glow Color Specialist at Faux Glow in Airbrush Tanning, where I have worked for over a year.

Since make-up is synergistic with skin health, I became a licensed Aesthetician. Understanding how the skin functions has only enhanced my overall ability and professionalism in the industry. Having one-on-one consultations with clients and understanding their individual lifestyles gives me the liberty to help develop comprehensive programs to nurture their desire to take better care of their skin. This, in turn, will benefit their make up application. Enhancing ones beauty through healthy skin and make up is better than the old school mentality of covering up imperfections and flaws.

Danielle Farrell:
(Glow Color Specialist/Senior Make Up Artist)

To say that I am simply a make up artist is an understatement. My fascination with beauty began at home. Born into an extremely creative Trinidadian-American family, my mother, a former Ms. Trinidad, was a huge inspiration.

As a child I would sit in front of my drawing board and paint my days away. I was obsessed with colors from a very young age. My childhood visits to Trinidad for Carnival are what sparked my curiosity about the techniques women around the world use to enhance their natural beauty. During Carnival I helped my cousin prepare her band, Genius. Watching as they put on their elaborate costumes and makeup urged me to want to learn more about different methods.

By the age of 13, I was doing anyone’s make up I could get my hands on!! With a mother that won countless beauty contests, I had no choice but to absorb all of the art and beauty that surrounded me. I actually started working professionally by the time I was 18, working for Benefit @ Macy’s. With the helpful experience I gained there a short two years later, I grew confidant enough to begin freelancing locally for special events such as Weddings, Proms, Sweet Sixteen’s, etc.

My life long friendship with fellow Senior Glow Color Specialist, Elizabeth Serna, has also been very valuable. Through her I was able to absorb a lot of information and technique as she is very generous in sharing tips and tricks on makeup application. As you can tell, it is in my blood to love beauty, makeup, and fashion.

With over 8 years of professional experience, my passion for beauty is stronger than ever. I believe that make up can make you feel empowered. If you feel better about how you look, you will project the image to the world with conviction. I'm so glad to be working at Faux Glow as a Glow Color Specialist because my focus is to help people come out of the sun and get a natural healthy glow that won't cause skin cancer. Also it will help keep their skin wrinkle free. Now who doesn't love that?

Shahla Powell:
(Glow Color Specialist/Senior Make Up Artist)

At Faux Glow, Shahla recognizes each client’s special needs and delivers with her savvy eye for perfection. She has mastered the art of exquisite make-up application and flawless eyebrow shaping. From the photo shoot to the altar, this gifted make-up artist transforms her clients to look “close-up ready” for that special moment. She believes that beauty comes from the inside, and as such endeavors to embellish her clients with a look that is ravishing, starting from within. Beauty begins with healthy skin and a clear complexion. To neutralize the effects of everyday stressors, like smoke, sun and pollution, Shahla believes in taking a gentle, yet effective approach to skincare.

Shahla’s journey began at Michigan State University, where she graduated with a degree in Apparel and Textile Design. While there, she worked as a costume and make-up artist assistant in the theater department. Shahla learned stage and character make-up, prosthetics, and began to develop her skills to achieve looks that ranged from “wedding-day flawless” to “on-stage dramatic.”

After graduating, Shahla moved to New York City to experience fashion in a new way. First she interned as a design assistant for Paul Carroll, working on hand-made, high-end women’s wear. This helped to launch her career as a freelance stylist. Subsequently she began styling for photo shoots, promotional events and trade shows. Through her experiences on set, Shahla continued to further her knowledge of make-up artistry and hone her creative skills.

Make-up proved to be just the beginning. Shahla went on to attend Atelier Esthetique, and receive her Esthetician’s License to become a skincare specialist. This allowed her to work as a Make-Up Artist for Elizabeth Arden’s Red Door Salon. While there she mastered the various aspects of make-up artistry, including private lessons, eyebrow shaping, special events, weddings and television appearances.
